IntraNET Tracker is a hit counter developed in C#, .NET v2.0, with SQL Server, and MS Access storage support, by me. Even though it can be used for hit counting internet portals it is specially useful for Windows based intranets, with integrated security enabled, allowing tracking of user behavior, for later analysis.
Why build something like this when there are good, and free solutions out there. As a user of the existing solutions I've found that:
- First and most important, they get to keep the data, and I don't. They show views, and reports of it, but they don't provide easy ways to obtain that data for further analysis.
- Those solutions are usually fitted for internet scenarios, so they don't store data at the user level, since the user is assumed to be anonymous.
- It's free. Usually the so called free solutions out there, are free only at the most basic service level, and are restrained in some way.
